2013 Mugs Stump Award - Hayes Range

Ryan Johnson and I just found out that we won one of the 2013 Mugs Stump Awards for an attempt in the Hayes Range. As always, thanks so much to those who help us make the costs of these exploratory alpine expeditions more manageable. A lot of us wouldn't be able to afford to get out there without a little help or the support of our friends and family and the companies making quality outdoor equipment and nutrition.

Here is a link to information about each of the planned trips supported by the Mugs Stump Award this year: http://www.alpinist.com/doc/web13w/newswire-mugs-2013-recipients - Our objective is worthy and looks like it has some pretty engaging climbing with almost 7,000 feet of vertical relief. Looking forward to it!

Headed to Malawi

At this moment I am paused at SEATAC heading toward Malawi, Africa to assist with a class through Alaska Pacific University (APU) called 'Community Psychology in Action.' I am excited to work with the students, and for yet another amazing opportunity to expand my horizons as a helping professional working in collaboration with some of the Malawi people at the Malawi Children's Village. I should be back to Alaska in the beginning of February and look forward to sharing about our experiences.

Roger Strong - 'Strong'

An awesome portrait of friend and avalanche survivor Roger Strong by Fitz Cahall and friends. Roger is an inspiring person for many reasons - not the least of which is his devotion to his family and his passion for getting people excited to push their limits and trying new things in the mountains. Thanks for all your support over the last 4 years, Roj.
